Birth Workers of Color Scholarship

It is a fact that people of color have worse maternal mortality rates and infant deaths than white families in the USA. We know that having a doula can be a big help in reducing risk at births in general.
The Grand Challenge says it best: "Every pregnant woman [or person] deserves a Midwife, Doula, Childbirth Educator, or Breastfeeding educator/counselor from her own culture if she so desires. We know from evidence-based studies that good maternity care, education, and support prevents prematurity, reduces complications and in general improves birth outcomes. This is a matter of life and death for certain groups in America at the present time."
Therefore, I am offering one scholarship per training that runs to a person of color who wishes to be an active doula and can not otherwise afford the training. Potential scholarship winners are also committed to being Honest Ethical Accountable Reliable and Thoughtful doulas as is outlined in the H.E.A.R.T. Doula Birth Business Pledge.
Full price for our workshops are up to $575. Scholarship recipients will be able to attend my workshop for $140 total, which includes your training, grading fee, and a printed copy of the manual.
I also offer a scholarship spot at every workshop that runs for a Queer Birth Worker. If you are part of the intersectionality of both groups and would like to be considered for either scholarship you need only fill out one application. Just let me know in the comments that you identify as both groups, and you'll have both chances to be awarded the scholarship.
*Please note: Due to the cost of running a workshop I cannot offer scholarships for trainings not meeting/sustaining their minimum of paid-in-full students, which varies based on location. The scholarship has no cash value and is not transferable. Applications are accepted any time, but must be in 3 weeks before the workshop you wish to attend. Once a workshop meets/sustains the minimum of paid in full attendees applications will be reviewed and students being offered a scholarship will be notified by email approximately 2 weeks before the workshop by email and phone.
