Babies are not Pizzas! Workshop
The insider's guide to getting the birth (not delivery) that you want
Are you anxious that you’re not going to get the birth you want? Do you worry that during labor, you might be pressured into something—leaving you feeling passive or disempowered? You are not alone. People come to us all the time when they have an overwhelming amount of fear about who or what they might confront during childbirth. At the Babies are not Pizzas! TM Workshop, we provide you and your partner with an insider’s roadmap to help you take ownership of your birth, talk with health care providers with confidence, and walk into the birthing room with a sense of calm—knowing that you have a supportive team that has your back!
What will we cover in the Babies are not Pizzas! TM Workshop?
So many words that we use when we talk about childbirth imply that doctors are all-powerful and women and those who birth should just do as they’re told. The physician “delivers” the baby, people are “not allowed” to eat or drink during labor, their labors “fail to progress,” their pelvises are “insufficient,” and their babies are“too big.” But what if you and your partner could walk into the birthing room feeling excited, empowered, and confident in your ability to talk on a more level playing field with your health care team?
In your Babies are not Pizzas! Workshop TM, we will explore these questions: ● What does research support as the safest way to give birth? ● What is the inside scoop on the hospital statistics and policies in our area? ● How does midwifery care differ from OB care? ● How can you talk respectfully with health care staff if you feel you’re being pressured into unnecessary interventions? ● How can you ensure that your birth plan is respected? ● How can doulas work with your partner AND your nurse to help you feel supported? ● What are your legal rights in the birthing room?
